Have a Seat: Music in Chinatown
May 23, 2021 @ Doyers/Pell Street
Join us for an afternoon of music in Chinatown with violinist Pei-Wen Liao and pianist Jiarong Li.

Already boasting sold-out Carnegie Hall recitals, and selection as an honoree in the 2018 Mandarin Leader Magazine, violinist Pei-Wen Liao continues to be known as a “compelling” and “deeply passionate” artist. A recent first prize winner of 2020 Alexander & Buono International String Competition, Ms. Liao has performed as a soloist with more than twenty orchestras in twelve countries across three continents. By thirteen, Ms. Liao had already sold-out a recital at Carnegie Weill Hall. She then made her debut in China in 2010, performing as a soloist on a 13-concert tour. Since then, she has been invited back to perform in China for seven consecutive years and has performed in at least 30 cities across China. More recent engagements have included a private solo performance for the President of Honduras and solo performances at the United Nations, Capitol Hill, the Oculus, and Bryant Park. www.peiwenliaoviolin.com/

Updated Guidelines for Businesses
Per New York State, businesses may:

  • Require masks and six feet of social distancing for all patrons within their establishment; OR
  • Require unvaccinated individuals to continue to wear masks and be socially distanced, and allow fully vaccinated individuals to not wear face coverings or socially distance.
  • Businesses may require proof of vaccination status or may rely on self-reporting (e.g. honor system).

The New York State Department of Health strongly recommends that businesses require face coverings and six feet of social distancing in indoor settings where vaccination status of individuals is unknown. This provision applies to most commercial settings, including but not limited to:

  • Retail
  • Food services
  • Offices
  • Gyms and fitness centers
  • Amusement and family entertainment
  • Hair salons, barbershops, and other personal care services

If businesses are implementing the CDC guidance, they may require proof of full vaccination status through paper form, digital application, or the State's Excelsior Pass. Alternatively, such businesses may rely upon self-reporting of vaccination status (e.g., honor system).

  • If the business is following the CDC guidance, fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced. The business may decide to apply this guidance to the entire establishment or a separate, designated part of the establishment.
  • If the business is not following the CDC guidance, all individuals must wear masks and maintain six feet of social distancing. Business capacity is only limited by the space available for patrons or parties of patrons to maintain the required social distance.
